Why We Must Save Darfur!

11 11 2008

While many have heard of the genocide in Darfur (Sudan), few know that what is going in in that region is actually a Muslim jihad perpetrated by Arabist-Islamists against Christian and “moderate Muslim” tribalists. Not only do we have humanitarian obligations toward these people, but we actually have national security interests in the region. It is a front in the war on Islamic terrorism, and should be publicly considered such. Although the twin evils of jihad and dhimmitude are at work in every Muslim country, there are only two countries where the shariah is, at present, fully implemented: Saudi Arabia and Iran. The Sudan is quickly becoming the third.

But don’t take my word for it. Today the Huffington Post has an excellent article on this subject that is a must-read:

“You and Khartoum: Why Darfur Is Our Problem”

My only critique of this article is that it implicitly situates this conflict within a racial paradigm (Arab vs. Black), when in fact the conflict is religious at heart. The article’s lack of any explicit mention of persecution against Christians is also rather depressing. Otherwise, an excellent read.

And no, Hell has not frozen over. A good article is a good article, no matter the source!
